Hi,
Check your ningx config by running sudo nginx -t
You should see what is causing the failure and be able to correct it.

I used that command and came up with nothing. any other ideas?
sudo nginx -t
nginx: the configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf syntax is ok
nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf test is successful -
