I’d like to have the ability to rent IP addresses that are not used by any droplets. This would allow me to configure DNS records to point to IP addresses, and not worry about propagation delay when I’m ready to create a droplet for that IP address.
Later, when I create the droplet for that DNS I know it’s ready for anyone to visit because it’s been using that IP for a while already.
I’ve experienced some issues where I destroy a droplet and create a new droplet for a different DNS, but the new droplet gets the old droplet’s IP address. I end up with an active DNS pointing to the wrong service.
So if I could rent a pool of IP addresses, than I have a lot more control of IP management of my droplets.
