Folders on Subdomains do not work (Ubuntu 14.04)

When I made a subdomain following this tutorial ( but I cannot access any folders under that. Is there something I am doing wrong?

  • What error are you getting when you attempt to access these folders?

  • This usually indicates that your web server is not responding. You are able to load the main page of your subdomain though?

  • @ryanpq yes I can, it works. I was using Cloudflare but switched to your DNS. I have even tried clearing cache etc but not luck.

  • Are you able to access your site directly via your droplet's IP? It sounds like you may have been hitting a cache of your main page as the failure to connect would not happen for some pages and not others as this indicates that your web server is not responding at all.

  • @ryanpq I am able to access the main site via my IP, I have also tried resetting cache but no luck.

  • It sounds like the web server on your droplet is not currently running. You can start it with the command:

    service apache2 start

It is also possible that if you have configured a firewall on your droplet it may be blocking the connection. If this is the case you will want to adjust your firewall configuration to ensure that ports 80 and 443 (if you are using SSL) are not being blocked.

  • @ryanpq Nope, the service has been started and I cannot access it, also I do not have a firewall.
