Linux Commands Getting Started Ubuntu

Hi, I had to reinstall windows so i lost the keys to my server (no password server, only ssh). I tried using the droplet web console but almost any command i send produce a “command not found” error. Any advices?

How are you able to login without the key? Can you screen shot the “command not found” error so I can see where this is happening?

  • it’s the web console, you can access throught your account. The moment you open the console give you access to the server like you connect a keyboard to it.
The thing is that it says “pablo@ubuntu-512mb-nyc3-01:~$” and waits for the command, but as soon i enter one it responses:
command: ls => “The program ‘LS’ is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt install sl”

command: sudo apt install sl => “SUDO: command not found”
command: su => “SU: command not found”

    and so on.
This is my first server so i know it’s a simple error what i’m doing.

Commands are case sensitive. So when you type SUDO vs sudo that makes a big difference in the shell world. Just making sure you’re aware of that. Type these two commands and let know what you see from your end:

env
echo $PATH

Feel free to upload the screen shot of the resulting output somewhere and link to it here. It’ll save you time. If you need urgent help with this feel free to reach out at joe@ my user name (add a dot between unixy and net).

  • Dude, i love you. Seems that in the web console case is inverted so when i type in lowercase the console register uppercase, so if i type in uppercase everything works fine. i think i can solve my problem now. Thanks!
