Getting more space on droplet

Posted on March 16, 2014

Hi, I have 2 questions.

 1. Can I host videos from my droplet?
 2. How can I get more space for my droplet? I thought about Amazon S3 but the bandwidth could get expensive, it costs 0.68 dollars per gb from S3 and a further 0.02 dollars per extra gb from Digitalocean. I feel that $0.7 per gb will become very expensive so I was wondering if there is a cheaper alternative?

Thanks, Francis

Hi,

You can host videos on your droplet provided that they comply with Digital Oceans tos however you cannot get larger droplets at this time.

HI,
Thanks for your reply! I know you can’t get more space on droplets but I heard that it’s possible to mount Amazon S3 as a filesystem to the droplet in order to store files on it. Are there any other services that your aware of that allow you to mount them as a filesystem to a droplet?

Thanks,
Francis

Hi Francis,

This guide should help you mount amazon s3 on ubuntu http://www.maketecheasier.com/mount-amazon-s3-in-ubuntu/ it really just depends on your needs you can always mount another server etc as a remote drive if you want to. You would just have to configure it correctly.
