Hi all,

Going to be a few questions . Thank you for your help.

  1. I am using a shared hosting now . How do I make the transition here, the server ?

  2. What should I look for when switching to the server ?

3- Is there a detailed article or a video about this passage ?

Unfortunately I do not have any information about the transition to the server. Do you help me with this? How do I switch ?

This guide will walk you through the process of migrating Wordpress sites to DigitalOcean droplets.

If you plan to use a separate server for each site you migrate that should be all you need. If you plan to host multiple sites on the same server this guide will assist you in setting up virtualhosts in Apache.

Hi all,

First of all thanks for your answer.

Does the panel where you used this horse?

How can I transfer without sides ?

  • There is no panel from DO..

Please note, I too did the same transition like yours from a cPanel based shared hosting to DO VPS.. Before you do, note few points,

    • DO provides unmanaged barebone VPS servers.
    • DO panel is not a hosting control panel, rather its a server setup and managing panel.
    • DO panel allows you to deploy a VPS in your needed location with your needed configuration, like choice of OS and choice of plan..

That leaves out any hosting control panel like cPanel or such which I was used too..

So what I did as a noobe, I went with a control panel, which helps a lot by configuring everything on a clean OS installation, like apache, email, ftp, database and such.. There are many panel options, you may already know about cPanel, but that is a paid software meaning, if you choose that you have to pay extra monthly fee to that panel developer, in this case, (which is around USD 15 a month..)

I host personal website without any earning hence, I choose zPanel.. There are many free options, out of which I found zPanel to be a close match (in terms of operation and GUI).. So,

    • deploy a droplet with choice of OS in clean installation mode (most of the panel prefer CentOS or Ubuntu.. Chose x86 incase the plan of yours has less than 2GB, otherwise with 2Gb or more, choose the x64 version..

    • Deploy the control panel.. (follow their guide).. In my case I choose zPanel..

Start creating account and add domains into your new control panel then update the DNS there in domain end to connect it with your new VPS.. Transfer your website from old host..

Point to note, zPanel team has moved to new project called Sentora !!
