How can I remove/disable letsencrypt on Apache Ubuntu 16.04 server?

Posted on September 16, 2016

I followed the DigitalOcean tutorial on installing Let’s Encrypt available here: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-secure-apache-with-let-s-encrypt-on-ubuntu-16-04 but now I would like to completely remove it from my server as I am having issues with form submissions over SSL.

How can I completely remove Let’s Encrypt?

Thank you.

Thank you. This worked for me

  1. This command blow offers an index from which you can select the domain name to delete:

sudo certbot delete

Then type the index number of the domain name’s certificate you wanna delete and press enter

  1. If the domain name does not appear in the index, type the command below:

sudo certbot delete --cert-name example.com

You would need to modify your apache configuration files to remove your https entry and any reference to your certificate files. Letsencrypt is installed under /opt/letsencrypt when following our tutorials so you can also remove that directory to delete the letsencrypt tools.
