I originally up the droplet with an SSH key and no password. then I added a password hoping I could look at my files via FTP and of course that didn’t work. I need to go back to having no password since this is for a class and that is the requirement

Your password was set to a random string when you created your droplet, but it wasn’t sent to you by email because you selected an SSH key. You can change root’s password to a random string by running:
