How can I verify floating IP is on a different physical server for high availability?

I’m interested in using DO for a company that will need high availability. I really like the floating IP idea where it basically sets up high availability without all the mess.

Sounds good… something like creating a couple of droplets, synching them, and setting up the floating IP between them.

I’m digging this, but in order for it to be truly high available, it must work in the case of a hardware issue on one server, to push to another server still up.

How can I verify the droplets are on separate physical hardware?

We expose a “Droplet neighbors” API endpoint which can be used to verrify your Droplets are on seperate physical servers. Call it with:

It will return a JSON array containing more arrays, one for each set of droplets that share a physical server. If no Droplets share a server, the response would look like:
