How can we reset our root password

Posted on May 24, 2017

Hi,

We have an issue with the root password of our droplets. This is because our former server admin is not connected with us anymore, and there was no proper turnover of the documents. we are left actually with no server admin. we can still log into our droplets as root but that is because we use ssh keys.

But there is one droplet where we really can’t login as the root, only an ordinary user. we can’t do any changes that involves root permission.

Can you please advise on how we can retrieve our root password.

Hi @potatskie You can reset the root password of the droplet in the DigitalOcean control panel. If you setup the droplet with keys originally, then I think you need to request the Recovery Image via a support ticket.
