Is your domain using DigitalOcean Nameservers? If not set the Nameservers to use DigitalOcean’s NS on your Domain Registrar.

ns1.digitalocean.com ns2.digitalocean.com ns3.digitalocean.com

Once done, add the domain to your DigitalOcean account and Under A records TAB add A record for main domain. HOSTNAME: @ WILL DIRECT TO: Select the Droplet IP or Insert IP manually.

Move to CNAME tab and add: HOSTNAME: www IS AN ALIAS OF: @

Once done, wait for DNS propagation to complete and retry installing SSL on the Droplet to which you have added the A record. Let me know if you have any further questions.
