How do I change the default login directory?

Posted on January 9, 2016

Whenever I login I wish to be taken to a specific path instead of having to manually go there myself every time. Is that possible to do?

Thanks!

You can do that by modifying the username’s home directory value using the command usermod. An example of using this would be if you wanted to change the username jason to have the home directory /var/www/html, you could run the following command:

usermod -d /var/www/hmtl jason
