Question

How do I check how much data has been transmit per droplet per month?

I see there are graphs showing the bandwidth consumed for a vm but the total number of GB transmitted isn’t displayed.

Each droplet has a transfer data limit when created.

How do I determine the amount of data transmitted for each droplet per month?

Digital Ocean provides some graphs to visually check yourself on your bandwidth usage. After logging into your account, select the name of the droplet you want to view information about, then choose the Graphs option from the resulting menu. You should see a public bandwidth chart as the first item (unless you opted to enable the private Ethernet port during droplet creation, which would be listed first with the public bandwidth chart listed afterwards).

You can change the resolution of the time period you want to look at to see how you are doing on your bandwidth usage. Note that if you have a private network port enabled, that port’s traffic does not count towards your monthly usage, only the public network traffic.

install vnstat, there are plenty tutorial online.

then run vnstat -m for month stats, -d for daily, --help for more.

Currently, droplets do not have a hard limit on traffic. But that also means don’t abuse it either. When they implement the traffic limit, I am sure it will show up in the dashboard.
