I have a temporary droplet that somehow got compromised. I don’t want to fix it, I want to destroy it, but cannot access the droplet destroy button because it is locked. I have rebooted it from the console but that has not affected its locked status. How can I just easily destroy the droplet.

Try contacting support. Hitting the destroy button is the correct way to destroy a droplet.
