How do I keep ruby on rails alive when I close the terminal?

Posted January 13, 2015 2.1k views

I have set up a ruby on rails blog but when I close the terminal the site doesnt work. I want to be able to enter the site even though my server is not open.
How can I do that?
Thanks.

For any process that must remain running when you disconnect and is not a daemon (runs in the background) then you can use screen to background the process and safely disconnect.

In this article, we will discuss how to install and use "screen", a tool that allows you to manage multiple shell sessions inside a single terminal. The screen program is very useful for multi-tasking in an ssh environment, due to its ability to resume terminal sessions and perform multiple-concurrent tasks.
