Question

How do I prevent other domains from using my droplet public IP?

I recently created a droplet and then assigned a floating IP to it. I configured the floating IP in my DNS manager and everything works as expected. However, I noticed that my website was getting traffic from other domains, and when I use the DNS checker to see what IP they were connected to, to my surprise it was the public IP of my droplet. How do I prevent this in future and even more important, how do I fix this?

Hello, @infoeaaabfa9d9d74bdeabae1b

Floating IP’s are primarily designed for use with load-balanced configurations. Can you please let me know why you’re using a floating IP address? I would like to have a general idea about your server setup.

Can you please double check your logs and see which IP addresses are/were accessing your sites?

Let me know how it goes.

Regards, Alex
