Question

How do I validate meteor app running?

  • Posted November 25, 2014

I’ve followed this tutorial for deploying a meteor app:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-deploy-a-meteor-js-application-on-ubuntu-14-04-with-nginx

But it seems that the Meteor app is not running on port 8080 after I start it.

Any tips on troubleshooting Upstart to see what it’s doing?

Hi, I have similar issue:

module.js:338 throw err; ^ Error: Cannot find module ‘/home/jpmelnik/demo.com/bundle/main.js’ at Function.Module._resolveFilename (module.js:336:15) at Function.Module._load (module.js:278:25) at Function.Module.runMain (module.js:501:10) at startup (node.js:129:16) at node.js:814:3

Hi,

I’m having similar problems so was curious what solutions did you find?

when I tried opening /var/log/nginx/error.log I get “Permission denied” and in my /var/log/upstart/todos.log i have the following errors:

module.js:340 throw err; ^ Error: Cannot find module ‘/home/ctcadmin/bundle/main.js’ at Function.Module.resolveFilename (module.js:338:15) at Function.Module.load (module.js:280:25) at Function.Module.runMain (module.js:497:10) at startup (node.js:119:16) at node.js:906:3

module.js:340 throw err; ^ Error: Cannot find module ‘/home/ctcadmin/bundle/main.js’ at Function.Module.resolveFilename (module.js:338:15) at Function.Module.load (module.js:280:25) at Function.Module.runMain (module.js:497:10) at startup (node.js:119:16)

Any troubleshooting ideas would be very much appreciated!

Hey! The first place to look would be the Upstart log file. If your Upstart script is /etc/init/todos.conf then the log file would be in /var/log/upstart/todos.log Running netstat -plunt show you if it’s running. If you are following that tutorial, then it should only be available on port 8080 via localhost. Nginx should be proxying it to port 80 to be accessible to the outside. You might want to check the Nginx logs as well: /var/log/nginx/error.log
