If I may - I'd suggest keeping a very small droplet open ($5) so that you can start learning the technical stuff. It can be quite overwhelming but worth the effort.

Well to be honest, its all the extra steps, my biggest Question is why? Why all the extra steps? Its not necessary, Its not that it cant be done or learned, its that I dont have time to play, I can setup an AWS account faster then this, yes its more expensive but I dont have to deal with configuring every little service or tweaking the settings, I use mount an image and I am up and running, I was interested in the SSD aspect of this but the images you guys have suck.

Because some people, i.e. just about ALL of D.O.'s customers, prefer having granular control over their cloud servers.

As the 'ole cliche saying goes: There's more than one way to 'skin a cat.' Some people like being able to optimize their servers. As in any other area of life, anytime you try to make a product a one-size-fits-all solution, you have to sacrifice on quality.

If getting up and running is more important to you than getting what you pay for, go for it. Sorry that was your experience. Unfortunately owning an unmanaged VPS requires you to spend more time configuring stuff and making it work than you would do on shared hosting.
