Hello, this is my first real time using DigitalOcean and I was trying to move my mediawiki family configuration here somehow so I can have more freedom in configurations and etc, but I don't know where to begin if someone can point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Hey there!

Unfortunately, we don't offer MediaWiki as a one-click application currently, so the best approach would be to start up a LAMP stack droplet, which you can then install MediaWiki on and then import your existing installation to :)

1-click LAMP droplet: https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/lamp

Hope that helps!

  • Ah I see, though how many droplets should I create? Just one or...? Because I have no idea.

    • I believe the wiki family is handled internally by MediaWiki, so you should only need a single droplet to house your MediaWiki installation.

How do you currently have your MediaWiki setup?

      - Matt.

      • Well I have the main wiki, plus 3 other sub-wikis right now. Plus a forum, ticketing support, and a blog.

        • If you're running that on a single server currently, you should be able to do the same in a single droplet!

          Hope that helps :)

          • Okay thanks for your help, but I have one last question, how would I install MediaWiki on a LAMP droplet is there a guide somewhere you can point me to?

  • @thomasnagle1997 Once you have your LAMP droplet initialised, you should be able to just follow the standard MediaWiki installation guide to get started: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Installing_MediaWiki

Let me know how it goes and if you need any further help!

    - Matt.
