Question

How install and run xorg un ubuntu server (without a desktop) ?

I’ve and old java GUI program that is already able to run in headless mode, but it require anyway an x server up and running if we have not a desktop environment.

We do not need a desktop environment, but how to install, configure, and run an x server?

Is your goal to run the x.org session headless or to access the session remotely using a client like vnc or x2go?

Sorry, no… I moved to another VPS solution and installed XFCE.

Did you ever find a good solution to this? I am in need of the exact same thing. Every tutorial I read is about how to install a full desktop environment. I just want a minimal X server to display remote applications on.

I need only to run the x.org session headless.

I’ve no experience in this field, sorry
