How much ram does a bare installation use?

Posted on May 4, 2019

If I were to create a fresh ubuntu droplet, how much memory would I have available? I just want to know if a 1 GB droplet will be enough, after taking into account system processes (systemd, avahi, etc).

How much ram does a ubuntu droplet use without any additional programs? And would it be much different for other distros?

Hello,

According to Ubuntu’s official documentation for a Ubuntu Server (CLI) Installation you should have 256 MiB of system memory (RAM).
