Question

How much will I be charged?

I have a GitHub student code (100$ Credits). But I need to set a valid payment method. If I use a Credit Card, how much will the charge be?

Hello all,

You need to enter a valid credit/debit card or make a deposit via PayPal in order to use the GitHub Student Pack. Keep in mind that this is needed in order to verify the account and once done you will not be charged.

The promo code field should be visible in the Billing section of your account, as shown in the link provided below:

https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/accounts/billing/promo-codes/

Once the transaction is approved and the funds are available in your DigitalOcean account you should be good to go. If you’re still having issues with this you can also contact our amazing support team and they will assist you with adding the GitHub Education promo code.

Regards, Alex

Hi there,

Here are the two messages for each payment method again:

*Credit card:

“We won’t charge your card. You may see a temporary pre-authorization charge to verify the card, which will be reversed within a week.”

  • Paypal:

“To confirm your PayPal account, you need to make a $5 pre-payment. This pre-payment will apply to any future bills.”

Hope that this helps. Regards, Bobby
