I have just created a droplet and have recieved the ip address and root password via e-mail
Can you please suggest how can i use this information to access the server so i can start learning .
I have got ftp connection installed for wrk purposes.I tried to login through that connection but i am not sure how to type in the UN and Password.
Can somebody please assist.

This guide should be exactly what you are looking for. It will assist you in connecting to your new droplet using PuTTY on Windows.
You mentioned making an FTP connection. Droplets do not support FTP by default but they do support SFTP. Using a client like Filezilla you can connect with the following information:
Protocol: SFTP Port: 22 Server: Your droplet’s IP Username: root Password: Your root Password
Note: You will not be able to make an SFTP connection until you connect once via SSH (PuTTY) as the first time you connect via ssh you will be prompted to change your temporary root password. Once this is done a client like Filezilla can make an SFTP connection.
