How to bypass or resolve Error: All configured authentication methods failed

Hi ,i faced an issue with using putty to access my console so i have been using the console from the UI to gain access. I am currently trying to use the console to get access to my droplet, and i am keep getting the error message found in my title. I remember trying to setup new ssh keys last night but it didn’t work. I was going through the tutorials. And now i can’t even get access to the droplet even with the console

this is an old question but no answer, hope this will help future search.

The problem is you are trying to connect to a server with an old key. For instance on the Ubuntu 22.04 rsa public keys arent accepten anymore by openssh. Solution:

  1. create a newer type key (ex: ecdsa, ed25519, etc)

  2. Or go to your host and update the /etc/ssh/sshd_config to accept PubkeyAuthentication yes PubkeyAcceptedKeyTypes=+ssh-rsa

uncomment the above two lines or add them to sshd_config if you dont find it.

Restart your sshd and that should do it.

I just tried several times to create new droplets, and I noted the issue as below:

1.San Francisco Datacenter2- SFO3 2.If choose 22.04(LTS)X64, I never can login the new droplet by SSH 3.But if you choose 18.04, I can always login it.
