Question

How to change WordPress WP-ADMIN apache credentials?

Posted December 24, 2014 3.6k views

Hello,

After being frustrated with the whole process of configuring droplets I think I’m finally starting to get an idea of how different commands impact performance and accessibility.

I used the WordPress 1 click install and I would like to keep the extra WP-ADMIN authentication, but I have no idea how to change the username and password. It’s pretty easy to find out how to deactivate this security measure, but not much info on how to embrace it. I appreciate any help from the community.

These credentials are located in an .htpasswd file indicated in the DirectoryMatch directive. The htpasswd command can be used to generate a new password file.
