Question

How to connect to mongo database with Compass

I don’t know much about server configuration (someone set it uyp for me), but I would like to connect to my mongodb server with compass. I put in the hostname and port which I know is correct. I don’t understand what any of the other fields mean, but when I click connect, it says mongodb is not running.
I tried adding the SSL certificate I use to connect remotely (chose “Server Validation” under SSL, and picked the file), but still no luck.

What else can I do? I’m not sure if there is authentication on mongodb and have no idea how to find it.

Hello,

I would recommend following the step by step instructions from their official website:

https://docs.mongodb.com/compass/master/connect/

Note that you if you have Compass running locally on your PC, then you might have to allow your IP address via your droplet’s firewall:

sudo ufw allow from your.home.ip.here

Then check the status:

 sudo ufw status

Hope that this helps!

Bobby
