Question

How to have wordpress blog on different server and pointing to a subdomain

 • Posted April 9, 2014

Hi

I have a rails app on heroku at www.mydomain.com

Ive created a droplet here on DO with the one click wordpresss 13.10 installer.

When prompted for a hostname I chose blog.mydomain.com

What else do I need to do? Currently I can’t even access the wordpress install using my ip address.

How do i get blog.mydomain.com to point to the droplets ip address?

Hi Adam,

You need to set up your DNS to point blog.mydomain.com to your IP address. There’s a tutorial that shows how to do this using the DigitalOcean DNS panel:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-set-up-and-test-dns-subdomains-with-digitalocean-s-dns-panel

Let us know if you need more help!
