I have a problem installing steamcmd/Garry's mod server. I have followed instructions here: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD

I got to the part where i have to start steamcmd but it just gives me "No such file or directory" I have no idea what is wrong, the file is located where it is trying to start it. i followed instructions exactly as it said for ubuntu.

  • I have not tried this process but I have a guess that the issue might be the

    cd ~/steamcmd

command. If the new user has not had a home directory created this could cause an issue. Since in the previous step you extracted the steamcmd tarball in the current directory I would suggest trying

    cd steamcmd
    ./steamcmd.sh

If you get the same error when doing this it would be helpful if you can provide the output of the following commands so we know your current location in the filesystem and what you are working with there:

    pwd
    ls

  • So i got it working using (www.)danielgibbs(.co.uk)/lgsm/gmodserver/ (cant use link because it thinks it's spam)

Only problem is that i cannot connect to the gameserver. The website has a tool to easy install the gameserver. It also has a tool to test the server. i ran that but it cant query the server ip:port

The port is 27015. Anything that might be wrong?

I got it to work using theese instructions: http://wiki.garrysmod.com/page/Linux_Dedicated_Server_Hosting

But i cannot find the location where it is saved in SFTP on bitvise. I followed instructions exactly for Ubuntu. I've been through most folders but still not found the folder the game files are in. Can you help?

I got it to work using this tutotial: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=208839830 (you don't have to use putty if you have access to droplet console view),but how is your server coping? Mine is lagging pretty hardly with 1-2 players on.I've moved it from FrankFurt1 to Amsterdam2, but same thing.. Also what OS are you using for your server? I'm using ubuntu..
