…excuse for the trivial question but I am a beginner in these arguments. If I choose Gitlab do I have to migrate all my application towards the new droplet?

Ubuntu provides a pretty good guide on installing and configuring SVN on an Ubuntu server. You can find it here. If you are setting up a new repository I would recommend going with git instead. We have a pre-built gitlab image that will get you up and running quickly and provides a nice web interface for your projects.
