How to make my domain work www in the start?

Posted on July 28, 2013

Hello ! I just installed and finished up my server yesterday! I bought a Domain at Godaddy.com and also did change the DNS Nameservers! My domain name works fine, but not with the www.

I did ofcourse not change the “A” Record IP of the Domain that points to @ in Godaddy!

And in the CNAME there is already www added that points to @. So that looks fine. Right now there has passed more than 24 hours and my domain does not react when I add the www infront! If I could get some help or advice how to fix this I will be appereciated !

Thank you very much in advance!

Thanks for the reply, it resolves now and redirect to domain.com Do you know how to do it without redirect, so when user types www.domain.com it stays with www. without redirection?

Hi

What’s the domain name? Also, what webserver are you using?

It’s been couple of hours I am having the same issues. I know that DNS takes time to propagate, but when I am testing with other domains/subdomains to point to the my VPS IP it happens quickly. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 32 bit with apache2 with Virtual Host, and I have put ServerAlias in the Vhost configuration file.
