Heya,
What you would need to do is to have Tomcat installed first. You can follow the steps on how to do this here:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-install-apache-tomcat-10-on-ubuntu-20-04
Once Tomcat is up and running, you can transfer the .war file to your server. To do that you can use scp to transfer files between your local machine and your server:
scp path/to/yourfile.war root@<your_server_ip>:/opt/tomcat/latest/webapps/
This command will copy the yourfile.war file from your local machine to the webapps directory of the Tomcat server.
Alternatively you can use FileZilla instead:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/how-to-connect-droplets-through-filezilla
Then to deploy the .war file, Tomcat should automatically deploy the .war file as long as you’ve added it to the correct directory. Check your application by visiting:
http://<your_server_ip>:8080/yourfile
Replace yourfile with the name of your .war file (without the .war extension).
That’s it! You’ve deployed your .war file to a Tomcat server running on a DigitalOcean Ubuntu server.
