Question

How to set timezon in managed database?

I’ve searched the docs and forums regarding how to set timezone in my database cluster managed by DO, but I can’t change it to UTC -04:00. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @heribertososa

You can check this question that was previously asked in our community:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/can-i-change-timezone-in-the-do-managed-mysql-database

The easiest way to do this now is via the DigitalOcean API.

First, use a GET request to get a list of your databases, and take the ID of the database you’re looking to change the settings for.

Then, use this API call: https://docs.digitalocean.com/reference/api/api-reference/#operation/databases_patch_config

Using your auth token and the body:

  1. {"config": { "default_time_zone": "Europe/London" }} <-- Change the timezone as you wish.

This should set the timezone for your server 👍

Hey @heribertososa,

In case you want to change it for your current session you could use the following statement:

SET TIME_ZONE = '-04:00';

But for chaining this globally, you would need to reach out to the support team to change that for you.

Please reach out to our amazing support team who will be more than happy to assist you! :)

Hope that helps!
