Question

How to set up e-mail accounts?

After moving from a shared host, I was used to being able to create email accounts easily. However when I started hosting with Digital Ocean, I have no idea or if it is even possible to set up an e-mail account, and access it through a web interface at yourwebsite.com/mail for example. Please can you shed some light on how I can go about this?

For exactly this purpose we’ve developed migadu.com. Should be very easy to setup with automatic DigitalOcean DNS setup. Would be cool if you could check it out.

I, too, am a big fan of Google Apps. A comparable option is Microsoft’s Office 365.

I personally use an external mail service (Google apps): http://www.google.com/enterprise/apps/business/

It used to be free but it’s not anymore. It’s still relatively cheap if you don’t have a lot of accounts.

Setting up your own mail server isn’t a “do it and forget about it” thing, I don’t recommend hosting your own mail server unless you know what you’re doing.
