How to set up permission on a droplet so Wordpress Functions like with shared hosting?

Posted on December 5, 2013

How can we set up WordPress so that it has the proper permissions so that it functions just like a shared hosting plan?

For example, I shouldn’t have to chmod everything to 777 just be able to install WordPress plugins from the back-end, or have to give WordPress a ftp account and password.

If someone can please write a detailed article on this and if any other users need to be set up to secure this besides root.
