I have followed the instructions at ProFTPd SFTP and added in password as an sftp method in sftp.conf. However, Dreamweaver CC is unable to connect using the sftp connection type with my user/pass. I am able to use my key to connect through Filezilla and ssh. Is there a way I can set up the ProFTPd server to use sftp and allow Dreamweaver to connect?

Have you restarted ProFTPd after applying the change to sftp.conf?
sudo service proftpd restart
