Question

How to solve ThunderBirdfailed to find settings for your email account error?

I have followed this documentation to create a mail server: www.digitalocean.com

After that, I added some users. And then, I have tried to access this user’s mail account in ThunderBird. But I couldn’t access yet. How to solve this problem?

incoming: IMAP-mail.example.com-143-starttls-normal password-user

outgoing: mail.example.com-587-starttls-normal password-user

However, incoming imap should be ssl/tls. How to fix it?

Heya, @rozerinyildiz

Update the IMAP server hostname to use SSL/TLS and change the port to 993. This should solve the issue for you.

Additionally if your domain name has an autodiscover DNS record the email client should recevie mail settings by default.

Hope that this helps!

Heya,

You can try using 993 for IMAP as well and set it to SSL/TLS connections.

Hi there,

If you’ve configured your mail server to handle SSL/TLS connections for IMAP, then the IMAP port that you should be using for SSL/TLS is port 993.

Port 143 is for non-TLS IMAP connections.

Can you verify if it works either with 143 with non-TLS or with 993 with TLS?

Best,

Bobby
