How to update the IP address of the old droplet to a new IP address with the same domain name

The old droplet was created for Ubuntu 14.04 server. However because of compatibility problem of PHP5.5, we created a new droplet to downgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 with the same domain name with new IP address. We wanted now the same domain to point to the new IP address.

You can point your domain name to the new IP address/droplet by editing your DNS records and replacing the old IP address with the new one: DNS - DigitalOcean Control Panel.

  • Hi Kamain7,

I had to do something similar. I also changed the ip address in dns records in control panel. How long does it take to update? I still see nslookup showing the old ip address for my domain.
