Question

How to use Ubuntu Packages with a Flask App

I was following the tutorial linked here (https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-serve-flask-applications-with-uwsgi-and-nginx-on-ubuntu-20-04#step-6-—-configuring-nginx-to-proxy-requests), untill I ran into a problem. My Python/Flask file ran properly when testing in the local phase (http://your_server_ip:5000). However, when following the tutorial, the Flask code would fail. The website would serve properly, but the backend Python file relies on some Ubuntu Packages, and this part throws an error. I rely on SoX, and installed it using apt get install sox on my droplet. I am wondering, how do I get this package to work on the actual deployed version of my website?

Hi there @nrmandal,

Once you have sox installed, you could use a Python module like pysox to interact with the sox instance on your server via Python.

To install the pysox module, just run the following:

  • Clone the project:
git clone https://github.com/rabitt/pysox.git
  • Then cd into the pysox directory:
cd pysox
  • And then run the setup script:
python setup.py install

Hope that this helps. Regards, Bobby
