How works the hours counting rounding?

I’d like to know how the rounding hours is done for charging. I checked on my billing that I’m always charged for at least 1 hour.

Nonetheless, I have run a droplet for 1 hour and 2 minutes and was charged for a single hour. In doing so, I’d like to know for how many minutes after the first hour I’l be charged for full two hours. On in others words, how works the rounding for after the first hour.

I’m asking this because I’m doing a financial analysis over price and processing time to find the most cost effective droplet for my needs.

Thanks in advance, LMNM.

Hello, @ldemattos

Digital Ocean charges by the hour for all droplets. The cost per hour is dependent on the hardware tier you select when creating a droplet and whether you decide to add the backup option enabled. Also please note that at minimum $0.01 is charged even if you use the lowest tier for even a minute as that’s the lowest that can be billed for.

You pay a minimum of 1 hour, so if you only use it for 10 minutes, you still pay for 1 hour

Usually if you go over 1 hour you should be billed for 2 hours, but if it’s a case of a minute or two billing might be calculated for an hour and not two, but as I said the billing is calculated for an hour so keep that in mind when doing the financial analysis.

Hope this helps!
