I accidentally removed the name servers (NS1.DIGITALOCEAN.COM) and can't replace them

June 28, 2016 2.3k views

The reason I removed them in the first place was in was going to take them out and put them back in because it was acting up and my domain wouldn’t work. If I try and re-add them I get the message “Name digitalocean.com is a reserved domain”. I also cant re-add the @ record “Name can not be LTD”.

The correct record to add is ns1.digitalocean.com. and not ns1.digitalocean.com

For your @ record, I would suggest typing @ in the Enter Name field.

  • For the ns1.digitalocean.com. it says a domain can’t end in a period.

For the @, I already tried putting a “@” in the “Domain” field.

    • It looks like you deleted the whole domain. You’ll need to recreate it by adding your domain name in the Domain field, and then re-create your records for that domain. Otherwise maybe you’re not in the right section of the control panel. Make sure you’re actually trying to edit your domain.

If the domain is not deleted or once it’s re-created, then my instructions will work.
