I am connected to domain, how do I access my files

Posted July 28, 2014 3.4k views

I have my droplet, I have a domain, I have changed the nameservers to be the Digital Ocean ones, and I have following the steps on ( “How to Set Up a Host Name with Digital Ocean”).

I can even ping my domain’s URL and I get a good response. I have uploaded a website to there, but I don’t know how to access it.

Say if I wanted to load the files from “/home/test” on my server, how would I connect that to “”?

Hi, I think you are not uploading your files to the right path.
Could you please tell me which OS is your droplets and where did you copy your files?

  • @slozano95 I am on Ubuntu and so is my droplet. I have my files in the folder “/home/tabata”, and when I got to “” nothing happens. I can ping “”, but not “”

You need to install a webserver on your droplet: How To Install Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP (LAMP) stack on Ubuntu 14.04. Once you’ve done that, browsing to should serve the contents of /var/www/html.

One of the most common steps to take when setting up a new server is to install a LAMP stack. LAMP stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. These individual components, when used together, allow us to host dynamic web content like websites and web apps on our server. We will demonstrate how to install these pieces and configure a basic setup for Ubuntu 14.04 in this guide.
