I am a newbie to VPS so will need a STEP BY STEP Guide to this kindly bear with me. Actually before this someone else had set it up. Now tell me how can I access .htaccess and what to configure in it?

Hi, Is this the one-click Wordpress app? If so, check out this tutorial for all the information: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/one-click-install-wordpress-on-ubuntu-14-04-with-digitalocean The credentials are show in the console when you first log in: 
Your /wp-admin is protected by Apache using .htaccess credentials:
User: admin
Pass: XXXXXXXX
The tutorial has an explanation of how to disable it.
