Question

I installed and activated my SSL keys, but my website is still not secure.

Nginx Ubuntu Apache

For reference, I used VestaCP to install the keys. I guess I still have to do something in the server end. I think the solution is simple, and is written right here. However, I have no idea how to type in those commands and what they even mean. I am using Putty for reference. Could someone care to explain?

Since you installed vestacp, I am guessing you know how to work with console.
So go to console and type sudo -i
This will log you in as root user.
Then type the following commands one by one

cd /usr/local/vesta/data/templates/web
wget http://c.vestacp.com/0.9.8/rhel/force-https/nginx.tar.gz
tar -xzvf nginx.tar.gz
rm -f nginx.tar.gz

I would advice using a client like putty or some other ssh client to make the copy part easier.
You just copy text from the source, and right click in the putty console. It pastes the text there.

  • What am I supposed to do after I enter the commands? I do not know what text I am supposed to copy, or where to put it. It seems the cd / weget/ tar / rm commands updated my files, but I didn’t do anything after inputting those lines. So basically, I am at a loss as to what to do after. I am doing this for four different domains if that changes anything, but all are on the same server.

    The guide says:

-Create new package or set force-https as nginx template in the existing package.

-Add new user and assing him package with force-https template

-Add new domain with SSL certificate and check the result

I do not know how to do any of this, and so detailed instructions would be appreciated so much. I’m almost at the end of making my website, I just need to do domain redirects and finish my ssl security.
