Question

I set up an account for my friend and am stuck in login issues

I set up an account for a friend, with his email. I added myself as a team member. I set up LAMP and a site for him, then could not get the device keys to work, so I reset them - big mistake.

So I reset root password but he gets the email with reset instructions. He does not have 2 factor and cannot even get in to see new password.

I can open the terminal from the digital ocean page, but every time I try to log in I get: Permission denied (publickey). I had tried the tutorial on how to copy keys to my server but I could not get them to work, kept getting permission denied.

So any ideas how to fix this?? Thanks so much! -lino

Hi there,

I would recommend following the steps from this page here on how to recover your accesses in case of a lost SSH key:

https://docs.digitalocean.com/support/i-lost-the-ssh-key-for-my-droplet/

In case this still does not work for you and you are still not receiving the password email, please reach out to our amazing support team who will be more than happy to assist you with your issue:

Hope that helps!

- Bobby.
