Question

I2P

 • Posted April 21, 2014

Hi! I installed OpenVPN server https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-install-openvpn-access-server-on-ubuntu-12-04 To connect I use OpenVPN Client which fine works in Windows and Android. Then I installed and run the router I2P. How do I connect to the I2P network using OpenVPN and preconfigured Internet browser (127.0.0.1:4444)? Please a detailed answer. I just recently started to explore Linux. Thanx!

you will need to setup i2p listening interface. You can try lynx console browser to do it. Just type at the server console: lynx http://localhost:7657 Set I2P HTTP Proxy to be reachable by your server IP. Don’t forget to set authorization params cuz in this case I2P proxy will be available without VPN.

As far as I know when you use OpenVPN you basically change your ip to the ip of your server and all data that travails between your computer to your droplet is encrypted then spat out the other side of your droplet as regular traffic when you set up I2P it should just assume that you are connected to the network at your DO droplet.

ON the other hand I unless I2P traffic is unencrypted I don’t see the point in using both a vpn and I2P.
