If I configure iptables for Jail2ban, should I uninstall UFW?

Posted on August 4, 2017

By default, One Click App for LAMP or LEMP will install UFW, on DO tutorial https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/initial-server-setup-with-ubuntu-16-04 it’s also suggested to install UFW. I read that UFW is a front end for iptables, make it easier to configure. And I read it somewhere that if I to configure iptables directly, I have to uninstall UFW.

Now on this tutorial https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-protect-ssh-with-fail2ban-on-ubuntu-14-04 it says I should configure iptables directly.

What should I do? Will it be okay to configure it and continue using UFW? Or should I use UFW ONLY because this is only partial configuration and will be too complicated for newbie like me to totally configure it.

Thanks
