If I have a Galera setup, with 3 nodes for example, and I want to resize them to add CPU, Disk and Bandwith, what is the correct procedure?

Posted on October 3, 2017

First is it possible? and if yes, what is the correct procedure ? Just resize them one after the other from my dashboard and they will all sync or should resize one and wait for a certain time, than resize the second, wait and resize the third ?

Hello,

I believe that as long as you do not shut down all nodes at the same time it should be OK. Just stop one node, upgrade it, start it again, wait for the node to join the cluster and wait it to resync, only then proceed to the next one.

If you shut down all nodes at the same time, then you have effectively terminated the cluster. Of course, the cluster’s data still exists, but the running cluster no longer exists. When this happens, you’ll need to bootstrap the cluster again.

Hope that this works! Regards, Bobby
