Hi @Shayshon,

Ubuntu 14.04 is not being supported anymore and as such there is no automatic way as to lay say like Ubuntu 20.04. To install an older or a Custom Image, you can use the custom image feature. Custom images are Linux and Unix-like images you import to DigitalOcean. You can create Droplets based custom images, which lets you migrate and scale your workloads without spending time recreating your environment from scratch.

You can read more about them here:

https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/images/custom-images/

Can I ask, what do you need Ubuntu 14.04 for? Can’t you use a newer version, maybe 18.04 or 20.04? I’m asking as there are numoures reason as to why you shouldn’t be using 14.04. Mostly, it’s because of the security patches. You don’t get anymore on 14.04.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing from you!

  • Hi, thanks for the reply, the reason I’m trying to use 14.04 is so I can install reddit from source and it needs to be on ubuntu 14.04… I tried uploading a custom image… but when it was just about to finish the bar and upload went away with no error, but it didn’t upload.

    • I see, thank you!

Most probably there was some issue with the Custom Image. Unfortunately, I can’t help there, with the said issue. If you are stuck, I would recommend contacting DigitalOcean’s support, they should be able to provide you with the exact reason your Upload is failing:
