Installed LEMP with ubuntu 14.04. But, now what?

Installed LEMP with ubuntu 14.04. There’s no ‘html’ or 'www’ folder in 'var’ folder like I see in other people’s droplet as example. How can I start uploading my website to the server?

NGINX has as document root the folder /usr/share/nginx/html/. To change your folder edit /etc/nginx/sites-available/default and set root to /var/www/html. I think you will need to create by your self the folder with sudo mkdir -p /var/www/html

I made the folder, but now ssh account can’t upload to the server.

Error Directory /var/www: permission denied

Installed LEMP with ubuntu 14.04.
Created the /var/www folder
Allow my ssh user to write to /var/www
Uploaded everything, but now I’m getting 403 Forbidden
