Is it possible to combine multiple VPS to increase storage space?

I am thinking of having a $10 VPS for the website then another $10 VPS for the storage, the two will link up together and one will just be a blank VPS with storage?

Is this possible? Reason why I am looking to do it this way is so that I can have my Photography Gallery hosted and have more than 30gb of images.

While it is not possible to combine two droplets directly you could run a distributed filesystem between multiple droplets to use their storage space as a single folder. This tutorial will walk you through setting up a GlusterFS distributed filesystem cluster on your droplets.

In this tutorial when creating the cluster it uses an argument “replica 2” which tells the cluster to keep two copies of each file. If you are not concerned with redundancy and simply want to pool storage you should not include the replica option. This will then allow you to use the full space available between your droplets.

GlusterFS is a technology that allows you to create pools of storage that are accessible from the network. Using this software, in this article we will discuss how to create redundant storage across multiple servers in order to ensure that your data is available regardless of if one server goes down.
